Half Way There!

So I'm proud to say that this morning I completed my first half marathon! I ran and completed the First Annual Los Angeles Half Marathon and actually survived. I ran it in 2 hours and 29 minutes which was a little slower than I would have liked but overall better than what I thought I'd do and not too bad I don't think for my first Half Marathon.

I'm sad to say though that I'm not walking away injury free. My left knee started hurting pretty bad just over half way through it and only got worse. It's killing me right now and I can barely walk. Hopefully it'll go away soon so I can continue on my mid week runs this week. My left knee has started hurting some too, after the race was over though oddly enough and I have some weird sore muscle in the back of my right leg as well. So basically I can barely walk and when I do I look like I'm about 90 years old.

But all that aside I'm still really happy I did it and actually completed it and really ran most of it with very few brief walking breaks. Hard to believe back in March when I did my first 10K I kept stopping and taking much longer walking breaks and this time I pretty much ran the whole first half without stopping which is equivalent to a 10k. Guess my training is really paying off!

Next weekend I'll be running a Holiday fun run 10K in Santa Monica/Venice; really looking forward to the much shorter run, although I'll have to up my pace. Just hope my knee is better in time.

I also want to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated to my fund so far. It helps motivate me so much more knowing I have your support and that you cared enough to donate to my fund and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Whenever I'm not so sure I want to get out of bed I think of everyones support I've received so far and it gets me out of bed instantly. So thanks again, it really means a lot not only to me but to the thousands who are suffering from a blood cancer!
